What a journey it’s been! Ultimately, evil was never going to win. Especially when it’s up against the Maker of heaven and earth. Now that Roger has been dealt with and David is back home, let’s bring this great story to a close…

“God has dealt with him! He should have known better!”

“Serves him right! Ah, you have the audacity to send some useless boys to destroy a church? Then you send more to go and kidnap a pastor? Ei, you don’t fear God?”

“Chale, fighting against God diɛɛ, ibi losing battle ooo. You never go win.”

In death, Roger had become a disgraced figure. Once the news of his dastardly deeds behind the scenes and his final moments splurged into the public domain, almost everyone was in agreement that his demise was an act of divine judgment.

The government had distanced itself from all his dealings and paid him little tribute, with the president choosing to focus on inviting David to the Jubilee House to render an apology for all that had happened. He was outraged at how Roger had hung up on him, and even more so when he discovered that the man was on the verge of escaping from Ghana altogether, so that pretty much kept him immune to any pity for his former party financier.

The only ones visibly torn about his demise were his family, who had all rushed from their various holiday spots to grieve their husband and father. They fiercely opposed the news flying about, insisting there was no way Roger could be so devious or wicked. The evidence, however, was out there and could not be ignored or brushed aside.

Indeed, Roger’s determination to teach David a lesson for refusing to accept his bribe had ended up costing him far more than he would have expected. Just like Pharaoh in the Bible, the man stubbornly waged war against the Mighty One of Israel and refused to realize he was digging a hole for himself. Now he had been buried in it, and with all his dirty linen out in the public, his name was forever soiled with shame and disgrace.

Pride truly does come before the fall.

“Hallelujah!”

“Amen!”

“So, people of God, if there’s anything I hope you take from this sermon, it’s that you must endeavour to find yourself in the will of God. Discover God’s agenda for your life, and hold fast to it. Don’t choose your own path and demand that God bless it; it’s a waste of time. You are not the designer of your life; He alone is. He numbered your days even before you were conceived in your mother’s womb; He alone has the blueprint to what will make your life a glowing success in His eyes…”

A massive Sunday it was at Reverence Ministries. With all that had happened, the church was packed to capacity, with many sympathizers eager to see how the man of God was faring after his harrowing ordeal at the hands of the late Roger Wakefield.

If they were expecting him to be at the pulpit that morning, however, they were disappointed. Pastor Tsedeq was David’s guest pastor for the day, and he was delivering an intense message about the importance of staying in the will of God.

David and Sika were in their seats, dressed in white and beaming with joy that the storm was over. The past couple of weeks had been so taxing on them, but God had come through for them spectacularly, and they could only be thankful while sat they among the congregation, absorbing the word for the day.

For David, nothing else filled him with joy than the fact that God spared his life in that accident. He had no comments on Roger’s demise whenever he was asked. He didn’t want to concern himself with that; he just chose to be grateful for his life.

As Pastor Tsedeq rounded up his sermon and asked the congregation to rise to their feet, he lifted up the timeless song by Daughters of Glorious Jesus, ‘Obiara Ne Ho‘. The atmosphere switched, the glory of God charging up the place as everyone sang along.

After about two minutes of singing, Pastor Tsedeq put up a hand. Then he stared at the Mensah-Jones couple. “Osofo, can you and your wife please come up?”

A hush fell over the auditorium as they made their way to the front, with everyone wondering what was about to happen.

As they stood before Pastor Tsedeq, he closed his eyes, took a few moments of silence, then began to speak in a voice that carried a Spirit-led authority. “Reverend David, Sister Sika, the Lord has a message for you today. In the face of adversity, you have stood firm, unwavering in your faith and not bending to the whims of the enemy. God has seen your resilience, your choice to trust in Him and praise Him in your darkest moments, and He is telling me to assure you that your trials and labour of love are not in vain.”

The congregation listened intently, sensing the sacredness of the moment.

Pastor Tsedeq continued. “I see tokens of God’s grace surrounding you, like gentle rain after a storm. Your ministry will flourish, and all the seeds you’ve planted in faith will bear abundant fruit. The attempts to thwart your path are only serving to strengthen your testimony. God’s favor is upon you.”

Loud shouts of ‘Amen’ echoed throughout the auditorium. David and Sika were on their knees, hands lifted high as they imbibed this prophetic word from the servant of God.

“In the coming days, you will witness amazing miracles, unexpected blessings, and divine interventions. I see doors opening that were once closed. I see provision coming from unexpected sources. I see healing and restoration in areas where you’ve faced challenges. God is turning your mourning into dancing, and your weeping into joy.”

The congregation erupted into heartfelt applause and joyful praise. Amidst the shouts of ‘hallelujahs and amens, Pastor Tsedeq raised his free hand, invoking a spirit of celebration.

“Receive this prophecy with open hearts, Pastor David and Sister Sika,” he declared. “Your testimony will be a beacon of hope for all who witness the miraculous works of God in your lives. In the mighty name of Jesus. Amen.”

“AMEN!” the congregation screamed.

“God bless you, my brother and sister. You may take your seats now.”

Thunderous applause and shouts of joy continued to reverberate around the auditorium as David gently lifted his wife up. Instead of leaving the podium, though, he signaled to Pastor Tsedeq to give him the microphone.

The cheers and shouts of joy grew louder as he readied himself to speak. Raising a hand to silence them, he shook his head, then spoke.

“I know there are a lot of questions people have, and plenty of you are wondering what I have to say about all that’s happened, how do I feel, all that stuff. I just wanna let you all know that there’s only one thing I have to say.”

The church now silent, everyone waited to hear what he was going to say.

He lifted his voice and began.

I love You, Lord
For Your mercy never fails me
All my days, I’ve been held in Your hands
From the moment that I wake up
Until I lay my head
Oh, I will sing of the goodness of God

That was his testimony, and what an effect it had once those words of praise escaped his lips! In no time, the auditorium was caught up in an extremely tangible presence of the Holy Spirit.

By the time he passionately sang out the end of the second verse, half of the congregation was in tears, worshipping in the Spirit, or slain. Even Sika and Pastor Tsedeq were overtaken by the Shekinah glory, both on their faces, crying and worshipping as he continued to sing.

It was a powerful moment as he sang unto the Lord the same song that he sang in the fire of affliction. Indeed, Adonai had been so good and faithful to him, even in his moments of weakness.

And for that, he would be a fool to not sing of His goodness.

And so he sang. Oh, how he sang!

“Alright, sure, sure, we’ll definitely be in touch. And once again, thank you so much for coming. I couldn’t be more grateful. God bless you and your ministry abundantly,” David gushed to Tsedeq in his office, once the service was over. As usual, the visiting pastor had come to his office to have a word or two with him before he left. With Ludwig standing around, ready to lead Pastor Tsedeq to his car, and Sika also around, it was a little more packed than usual.

Pastor Tsedeq smiled and nodded. “Amen, my brother in the Lord. May the Lord bless you too. And your family. And Reverence Ministries.”

As Ludwig led him out, the young man was faced with another visitor at the doorway. Briefly asking his name and all, he popped his head back in the office. “Reverend, please, Mr. Kwasi Ansah wants to see you.”

“Oh yeah, let him come in,” David urged. He remembered the name; that was the man who donated to purchasing the new white chairs the Mensah-Jones couple sat on.

In stepped a dark-skinned, plump man who looked like he belonged in the Generation X category. Sporting a sleek black and gold kaftan, he saluted David and bowed to Sika. “Reverend, woman of God, I greet you.”

“We greet you back, sir. Please, have a seat,” Sika encouraged.

Mr. Ansah shook his head. “Oh, no, no, no worries, woman of God. My task here is very quick. So, uh,  I can’t express how sorry I am about what happened. It’s truly disheartening. I’ve been deeply troubled by the actions of that man towards you, and I think it’s obvious that his deeds have no place in our society. We thank God that it’s all over now, and that He’s given you victory.”

David nodded. “Thank you for your kind words. What more can I say? Weeping may endure for a night, but joy cometh in the morning.”

Mr. Ansah nodded enthusiastically in agreement. “That’s right. So… God spoke to me during the service today, and He told me to do something for you and your wife and kids. I was a tad bit hesitant, but after the visiting pastor spoke those words of prophecy, I knew I had to get it done, so…”

He reached into the inner pocket of his kaftan and produced a cheque, handing it to David.

The Mensah-Jones couple exchanged puzzled glances before turning their attention to the piece of paper.

They sighted the amount written on the cheque.

David literally stumbled back in disbelief. Sika screamed, “JESUS!” and covered her mouth.

Mr. Ansah smiled warmly. “Consider this a small token of God’s grace. It won’t erase the past, obviously, but I hope it eases your burdens and helps you in whatever you need to do. And uh… what I heard was that it’s for your family. To give them the life you’ve always wanted.”

David and Sika stared at the cheque in awe, utterly stumped by this show of immense generosity. They looked back at the millionaire, their eyes reflecting a mix of sheer gratitude and utter astonishment.

“My work here is done. May God continue to bless and guide you both,” Mr. Ansah said, nodding respectfully before taking his leave, leaving David and Sika standing there, holding a cheque that surpassed their wildest expectations.

Sika just shook her head, whispering to herself, “Oh my God, oh my God, oh my God…”

David simply stared at the cheque, dumbstruck. The amount on it was much more than Roger had offered him.

To think that Jehovah Jireh would reward him like this! He never in a million years would have expected it. He didn’t even expect that God would have such a plan like that for him.

The two slowly turned to each other. Sika’s face was already tear stained. She began to jump excitedly. “Jehovah overdo! Jehovah overdo!”

Catching the excitement bug instantly, he jumped with her, and they embraced excitedly.

“Oh, wow! Goodness! I never in a million years would have expected this!” he exclaimed, looking at the cheque. “Honey, this is virtually more than what Roger Wakefield offered me. This God… ei, this God we serve…”

Wiping her face, Sika nodded. “Now this is what you call a blessing that makes rich and adds no sorrow! Heiii, Jehovah! What shall I render unto You ooooo, what shall I render unto You…”

“And you heard what he said, right? It’s to give my family the life I want to give them. Honey, God saw the desires of my heart, and He’s shown me how He alone is supposed to fulfill that. Now I can do the things I’ve always wanted to do for you.”

Smiling hugely, Sika asked, “Like?”

“Like taking you on a vacation outside the country. Maybe to Dubai or the Caribbean islands or something,” David grinned.

Sika smirked. “That sounds awesome. I think I’d like the Caribbean islands eyi more, so we can go to the beach, and I can slay in some sweet momee dress and rich aunty hat. Then when I change my WhatsApp DP, everyone will be like ‘ei, Osofo Maame is chilling paaa’!”

David laughed out loud. “Okay then. Caribbean islands it is. For the two of us. As for the family one, it’ll be Dubai.”

Sika giggled. “No problem kraaa. I’m all for it.”

As the laughter ceased from both husband and wife, the former beckoned the latter to approach him. “Come here, honey.”

Obeying his request, she got closer. He immediately wrapped his arms around her and pressed his lips against hers. Responding excitedly, she threw her arms around his neck. For about a minute, the Mensah-Jones couple were lost in each other in a moment of passion.

Upon separating, David smiled at her and gently stroked her face. “I love you, Sika. Thank you for sticking by me through it all. You really are the source of wisdom and strength God had in mind for me before I was born. I love you so much.”

“I love you too, Reverend. And thank you for staying faithful to God’s will for your life. I couldn’t be happier to be submitted to such a man. You are my greatest blessing on this earth.”

“Amen, honey, amen. Now, let us pray over this money.”

Holding her tightly as she did likewise, he opened his mouth to speak to the Giver of good gifts.

“Eternal, Matchless Father, the Maker of all things seen and unseen, we come before You with hearts overflowing with gratitude and awe. El-Elyon, we lift our voices in thanksgiving for this incredible financial miracle that You’ve bestowed upon us – a gift so big and so unexpected that it could only be from Your gracious hand. Lord, You’ve done more than enough for us, and we’d be satisfied and thankful if You didn’t give us this, but You have, and all we can say is thank You.

“Thank You for this financial provision that has come at a time when we least expected it. Father, this is a testament to Your perfect timing and unfailing grace. Lord, You are the source of all blessings, and we acknowledge that every good thing in our lives is a manifestation of Your love and mercy. As Your word tells us in the book of James, You are the Giver of good gifts, and so we thank You for this gift. Thank You for this mercy. You have shown us mercy, and we are ever grateful.

“And now, Father, we humbly seek Your wisdom. Grant us discernment to navigate the choices we will have and to use this blessing, and all other blessings incoming, according to Your will. May we be good stewards of the resources You have entrusted to us, and may we never ever forget that they ultimately belong to You. May our choices in spending this money always align with Your purposes and ultimately bring glory to Your name.

“Lord, what more can we say but that we are grateful? Grateful for this undeserved token of grace. May it never become a snare unto us, but may we always remember that You alone are the source of satisfaction and fulfillment. May this money remain a tool we use to bless Your house, bless our beautiful children, and all those around us. Blessed be Your holy Name forevermore. From the rising of the sun to the setting of the same, Your Name be hallowed now and forever! In the mighty and unrivalled name of Jesus Christ we pray, amen!”

“Amen!”
