I want to give you some love
I want to give you some good good loving
Oh aye, oh aye, oh aye,
I want to give you some good good loving
Dressed in his favourite black kaftan, Chief Tay stood by the entrance of the Movenpick ballroom, fully taken in by the sounds of Bob Marley’s ‘Turn Your Lights Down Low’ as the ballroom was filled with the wedding guests from Triumphant Chapel. About an hour had passed since the wedding ceremony had come to an end, and Mr. and Mrs. Sedudzi had moved to their room to take exclusive photos.
The guests in the meantime had filled the ballroom and were already helping themselves to some finger foods as they waited for the reception to commence.
“Ala, the song dey enter you!” Oscar laughed at him as he stepped out of the ballroom.
Chief Tay laughed as he waved back at him. “I swear, chale! Bob Marley diɛɛ, no size oo!”
Just then, Jackson, Selasi, Akinyi and Mawuli approached him. “Chale, Edem and Dee are done with the exclusives. They and the rest of the squad should be here in the next few minutes,” Jackson informed him.
“Cool, cool.”
In the next ten minutes, the other groomsmen, bridesmaids and the couple showed up, all charged and ready to set the reception alight.
And the words to describe how the couple were looking in their reception attire? They were yet to be formed. Diamond’s sultry strapless red dress with a sensual slit was of jaw-dropping quality, and Edem’s red agbada was the very definition of sophisticated.
“Chale, Chief, I hope the DJ has lined up something hot for us ooo!” Akinyi demanded. “The way I’m ready to show up on the dance floor, eh!”
“That makes two of us, girl!” Selasi agreed, already going low in front of her husband as Ofori Amponsah’s ‘Emmanuella’ played at full volume.
“Ei, Cee, stop tempting Jackson ooo, na this your moves!” Edem warned jovially, prompting laughter from the others.
“Efo, don’t disturb me!” Selasi shot at him.
Chief Tay laughed before signalling to them that he was getting the official program started. He walked into the ballroom, moved to the DJ’s area and picked up a microphone before booming into it.
“Good afternoon, ladies and gentlemen! I can see we’re all having a grand time at this beautiful reception. My name is Dennis Fafanyo Tay, but you can call me Chief Tay, and I’m gonna be your MC for this beautiful reception! The bridal team will be making their entrance soon, so kindly take your seats as we prepare for this reception to commence.”
Returning to the entrance as people took their seats, Diamond mischievously asked, “Chief! Abi we’re doing the wedding game thing, right?”
“Yeah, yeah, of course,” Chief Tay confirmed, oblivious to the dirty look Edem was shooting his bride.
Diamond, very much aware of Edem’s displeasure, probed further. “I hope you know it’s not the questions game I’m talking about ooo. It’s the blindfold gam-“
“Nooooooooo! No no no no!” Edem interjected.
Chief Tay crouched slightly. “Diamond, I dey beg, that game diɛɛ, someway. Last two months, I did that game at a wedding for one of my cousins, and her husband went and chose another woman by mistake. As I dey speak, the matter still dey Togbui ein palace inside. I dey beg, I no like trouble.”
Diamond laughed. “Oh, I’m joking. Na the way your nyɛbro objected to it beforehand…”
“Of course! I don’t want to end up like Chief’s guy… ah, Chief, what be ein name sef?”
“Alornu.”
“Exactly. I don’t want Alornu’s wahala some. Couple’s challenge it is.”

Ten minutes later, as Chief Tay returned to officially begin the reception, and the hall was subsequently filled with the sounds of ‘All Over’ by Tiwa Savage, the bridal procession made their way into the ballroom. The theme of their movement: sass and class.
They all grooved to the song with high levels of sauciness, although many who watched them enter would agree that Selasi and Akinyi were the ones who literally defined the word ‘sass’ with their movements; they were literally on fire as they made their way through.
And Chief Tay, noticing it, did not hesitate to hype them up.
“Go Queen Cee! Go Queen Cee! Alaa, give them! Aki, give themmmm!”
A memorable entrance by a bridal train, no doubt.

“And now, ladies and gentlemen, the moment we’ve eagerly awaited. The reason why we are here. Let’s welcome, the latest, freshest, awesomest couple on planet Earth! MISTER, AND MISSUS SEDUDZIIIIIIIIIIIIII!!!”
The DJ immediately hit the play button, and the sounds of Baajo by Kwesi Arthur blared throughout the hall.
And giving their all in their dance moves as they entered, were Mr. and Mrs. Sedudzi. Phones were lifted all around and hollers were hollered as the two made their way down the aisle.
As they approached the high table, the DJ switched it up with Camidoh’s ‘Sugarcane’ remix. Approaching them joyfully, with a groove in her steps, was Larissa. Diamond gave Edem a small nod, as he stepped back and watched his wife dance towards her mother.
Show me your jigga and lemme see (lemme see)
And let me see the woman that he’s with (that he’s with)
It was safe to say nobody expected Diamond and Larissa to begin a simple but eye-catching choreography once those lyrics dropped. But they did.
And if the excitement had not been enough, this surprise mother & daughter dance blew the very roof off. Even Edem was going crazy watching them boogie.
Social media was sure gonna love this video. A bride and her mother ripping up the dance floor? Pure viral material.

“Guys! You got your money?” Kwame called to the boys at their table.
Oscar, Toby and Anasah nodded.
“Good! Dad’s on standby. Let’s move!”
As the couple were still on the dance floor, the four stood up, put on their dark sunglasses and walked to the center of the floor where they continued to move their feet.
Taking out wads of fifty cedi notes, they formed a circle and walked around Edem and Diamond, spraying the notes on the couple.
Yep, anyone who had lost their voice already from screaming out of excitement had lost it too early. Those who didn’t… had something new to scream about.
And that was just the tip of the iceberg.
Executing their plan to ‘make it rain’ on the Sedudzis already working out perfectly, it was left to the boss to shut it down.
Mr. Clayton Benson.
As their notes decreased, he got up from his seat where Daniel and Larissa were seated, and calmly walked over to the dance floor littered with fifty cedi notes…
And pulled out a wad of hundred dollar notes.
The boys stood by and hollered themselves hoarse as Kwame’s father upped the ante, virtually pouring the notes on the couple. If you had ever heard about making it rain at weddings, this was a prime example.
And boy, was it awesome to see!
Ten more minutes of dance tunes, where everyone else got in on the act, and the couple finally moved to their high table. As everyone else returned to their seats and those assigned to gather the notes on the floor did their job, a breathless and sweaty Chief Tay stood before the people and shook his head.
“Ladies and gentlemen… you will not see a reception with a greater kick-off than this! Herrrrhhhh!”

“Okay, so you guys know the drill, right? If the answer is Diamond, you both lift up her shoe you’re holding. If it’s Edem, then you hold up his. We good?”
The couple nodded as they sat on chairs opposite each other. The reception had gone as expected so far: Pastor Lois helped them cut their cake, Dolph-Skwad had done an incredible choreography for the couple, those appointed to pop champagne had come and done their duty. Now it was time for the couple to play the game they had mentioned earlier.
“Alright, lessss geauuxxx! First question… who said I love you first?”
They both lifted up Edem’s shoe.
“Okay! Who is the better dancer?”
Diamond raised her shoe, while Edem raised his.
“Eish, each one says they’re the better dancer ooo!”
“Please, I’m better than him!” Diamond insisted with a smirk on her face.
“I object!” Edem retorted playfully.
“Please,” Chief Tay asked as he turned to the guests, “we’ve seen their moves for ourselves. Who wins this one?”
The overriding shouts of Diamond’s name could not be ignored.
“Mr. Sedudzi, this one, the people have spoken. And I have to agree, na what she came and did with Her Ladyship… abeg, Dee, you take this one.”
The couple laughed.
“Next question: who is the better cook?”
They both lifted up Diamond’s shoe.
“Okay, no disputes about that. Even me, I can testify to that. Anyways, next question: who is more likely to get arrested?”
Laughing, they both raised Edem’s shoe.
“Eiiii, Edem! Stubborn academy tins, abi?”
Edem laughed out loud along with the guests. “Chale! My people know.”
“Hahaha! Anyways, next question: Who calls or texts more?”
They paused for a moment, then raised their own shoes.
“Eish, battle for most romantic!”
“Please, it’s me,” Edem declared. “Even my mother knows this!”
“Maame Precious,” Chief Tay turned to Edem’s mother, “your son has called you to be a witness ooo.”
“It’s true. The way Edem is always calling Diamond, it’s serious!” Maame Precious confirmed.
“Ahhh! Please, as Maame Precious has spoken, that’s it. Or Diamond, do you wanna object?”
She raised her hands in surrender. “I’m shy of Maame Precious. Issokay.”
Chief Tay laughed along with the rest of the guests. “Well noted. Efo, you have a new strategy to win. Okay, next question: who is the social butterfly?”
They paused again for a moment, seemingly unsure, then they both slowly raised Edem’s shoe.
“You guys aren’t sure, eh?”
Diamond nodded. “We’re not social butterflies like that, but maybe, Edem has it more than me.”
“Okay, okay. Next question: who is the bigger baby when sick?”
While Edem hesitated a bit, Diamond wasted no time, raising Edem’s shoe and waving it wildly.
Everyone burst into laughter, including Chief Tay. “Ayyyeeeeee! Edem, this one, your wife break you that ooo!”
A sheepish smirk on his face, Edem whispered to Diamond, “Oh, I am so gonna get you later on.”
“Bring it on, baby boy. My waist is ever ready for you,” she replied sassily.
Edem went mute, eyes wide open as his jaw dropped open.
He did not expect that response at all.
But hey, was there any problem?
Not in the slightest. If anything, it was good to know she was ready for him. Coz he had plans for her.
Real ‘dirty’ plans.
He snickered. “Don’t say you weren’t warned!”

As the dance floor was packed with guests ready to spend the energy from the food on getting down to the beat, Daniel walked over to the high table, where Edem alone was seated.
His wife was in the corner with Larissa and Serwaah, busily having photos taken of them.
“Edem!” Daniel called as he approached him. “It’s been one helluva day, hasn’t it?”
“It seriously has, Mr. Dolphyne!” Edem agreed, standing to his feet to greet his father-in-law. “So many memories have been made, especially at this reception.”
“Like that dance routine between Lari and Dee!” Daniel laughed. “That just… came outta nowhere! I had no idea they had that thing planned.”
“Me too!” Edem concurred. “She just nodded to me, and I stepped back a bit, then chale, see these two giving some serious dance moves! Chaleeeee!”
“I know, right! Serious stuff. Well, everybody’s still enjoying themselves, and that’s great. Just one little thing I thought I’d share in the midst of all this.”
Edem’s attention on him, he nodded in the direction of the Dolphyne ladies.
“That beautiful woman called Larissa, has been my wife for almost three decades. I know for this day, the most beautiful woman in the room is Diamond, but you see how amazing her mother looks?”
“Mr. Dolphyne, I don’t think I’ve ever seen Mrs. Dolphyne not looking amazing. It’s just a normal somtin to me.”
“Haha, no doubt! Well, it’s down to one thing: I dedicated my life to serving her, making her the happiest woman alive, and doing what God would expect of me as a husband. I don’t say this to you as Diamond’s father, but as a man who’s done many years of marriage. Make sure you treat your wife well. Let it be that in ten to twenty years from now, people will look at Diamond and one of the first things they say is ‘wow, Edem really treats his wife well’. Nothing brings greater honour to a man in the public eye than a glowing wife. I hope you hear me.”
“Most definitely, sir,” Edem responded, his eyes on the ladies. That couldn’t be doubted; everyone who knew Larissa well would tell you how she attributed her glowing aura to having a husband who makes taking good care of her his priority. Of course, Edem had heard it numerous times from the Dolphyne kids, and he knew he had to follow those footsteps.
And he was more than ready to do just that.
They watched on as Larissa called out.
“Kisses!”
The three ladies did the Dolphyne Air Kiss.
“Oh, and I’m sure you know your daughters will most likely be doing that with Diamond.”
“Oh yeah, she told me in advance that she will teach them.”
“And you have no problems with it, right?”
“Not at all. As if she’d even mind me if I did.”
“Hahaha!”
Yep, there’s been total enjoyment at this reception! And that dirty quip by Diamond, hahaha! The girl’s prepped her mind for those bedroom games, hasn’t she? Well, we’re almost done with this beautiful reunion. Let’s see how it ends…
