MONDAY

“Babe, you know you forgot to put your cup in the kitchen when you left?”

“Oh my, arrrggghhh! I’m sorry, my love. I told myself I was going to do that this time. I dunno why… chale, babe, I’ll start doing better, wai.”

Winnie smiled as she crossed her legs while sitting at the dining table. As usual, her Mondays were for work-from-home, so she was in the comfort of their dining room, with her laptop in front of her.

“It’s alright, honey. At least, you have another way of apologizing to me for that. Unless you’re already tired…”

Nicky’s voice went low. “Babe, if you think I’m done hearing you moan and scream my name, then you’re joking. Tonight, I’m coming for you, so you better be ready!”

Winnie laughed. “Yes, please, my Bop Daddy.”

A few more minutes of animated chatter between the two, and their call ended. Before putting the phone down, she browsed through her photo gallery, picked out one of their pictures from Saturday, and posted it on her status with a sweet little caption.

Me and mine 😍😍couldn’t be more satisfied with life 🥰

She barely laid the phone down for sixty seconds before it began buzzing. She glanced at the screen to find Sandy’s name flashing. With a knowing smile, she answered the call.

“Hey, Sandy, good morning.”

“Winnie, spill the beans! I saw your lovey-dovey post about you and Nicky on WhatsApp. Have you two reconciled?”

“You caught that, eh? Yes ooo, Sandy, we have. It’s been amazing.”

“Finally! I’m so happy for you guys. Spill the details! Sharp sharp!”

Winnie chuckled, more than ready to share the highlights of their journey toward reconciliation with her. “Well, so it all started with a little visit to his parents’ place…”

TUESDAY

“Oh, praise the Lord ooo, praise the Lord! Hallelujah!”

“Ohhh, thank God, we thank God!”

Seated at his desk, with the framed photo of Winnie smiling at him back on his table after stuffing it away for so long, Nicky smiled at the shouts of joy coming from his parents. He had stayed over a little longer after five o’clock to complete one task, and had decided to take the opportunity to give them the news.

And as expected, they were over the moon, overjoyed that their son’s marriage was now back on track.

“You see, it’s the little things that matter ooo,” Adeline gushed over the phone. “It’s not always about big, big things in marriage. The littlest of offences can spark a raging fire that will destroy you and your spouse if you let it. The same way, little, little shows of affection can go a long way to enhance the quality of your relationship.”

“Exactly. I mean, if there were more serious issues, like abuse or serial infidelity and the like, then we’d know that some very serious work needs to be done, since we’ve seen so much of that over the years,” Philip added. “But for some of these matters, it’s just about going back to where you started and rekindling the fire from there. Life happens, and you’ve got to be intentional about keeping it burning.”

Nicky nodded. “Sure, sure. I’ve definitely learnt that lesson. We just… or actually, I just allowed stress and all to come between us. Now I’m gonna be very careful to not let that happen again.”

“That’s right, that’s good. Oh, I’m so happy you’ve managed to solve your problems. Now my heart is filled with joy.”

“Mm-hmm. I’m proud of you both for finding your way back. Love is a journey, and sometimes, the bumps you experience along the way make it stronger. I pray that’s gonna be your story.”

Nicky smiled, enjoying the sense of approval and blessing from his parents. Chale, thank God I followed their advice. Dunno what I was thinking in my foolish pride, but, yeah, thank God that’s dead now…

WEDNESDAY

Winnie stood by the office kitchenette, stirring her coffee absentmindedly. Her thoughts drifted to Nicky, their heated little connection that morning still fresh in her mind. Giggling and sighing as she got lost in a dreamy recollection of the passion and beauty of that early union, she didn’t notice her work colleague, Chioma, enter the kitchen.

“Winnie! Winnie! Earth to Winnie!”

Snapping out of her happy reverie, Winnie blushed, realizing she had been caught in her daydream. Chioma grinned at her.

“Hei, Mrs. Winifred Koomson! The way you are distracted and smiling this early morning, it’s like your husband has given you some spectacular gbas gbos to begin the day with.”

Winnie burst out laughing. “Ei, Chioma! Seriously?”

“Abeg, abeg, are you not a married woman? Please, it is not bad if you have collect some hot gbas gbos this morning. In fact, it’s very good. See how your face is shining with the glory of the Lord.”

Winnie laughed even harder, placing her mug on the counter to keep it from spilling. “Ei, Chi-Chi! You this girl, you won’t kee person!”

“You know me, now! Well, it’s obviously not my business to probe any further. But… I pray that the good Lord blesses Mr. Koomson with more strength and endurance, so he can keep giving you joy overflow in the morning,” Chioma quipped mischievously as she grabbed a mug before slipping out.

Still in stitches, Winnie couldn’t help but internally say an Amen to that.

THURSDAY

“Mmmmmm, hell yeah, baby,” Nicky grinned as he read the message that popped up on his phone. It was almost five o’ clock, and with nothing left to do for the day, he busily engaged his dear Winnie in some conversation.

Conversation that was pretty much in line with all the naughtiness they had been up to all week.

Totally engrossed in his phone screen, he barely noticed when Edem walked by. His friend smirked as he watched him texting with a grin on his face. Nicky had already told him that they had patched things up. “You then wifey dey chat?”

Nicky looked up at him and nodded. “Yep.”

“Sweet. Chale, it’s good to see you happy once again in your marriage. I knew you could work things out.”

Nicky nodded. “Yeah, chale. Man was just being stubborn at first, but now, as the veil fall diɛɛ, sense san return. So chale, we’re good.”

“Chale, thank God oo, thank God. Anyways, Ogyam dey search you, so chale, do wild then go see am.”

Nicky grimaced, leaning back in his seat. “Ummm… I fit get a few minutes before I go?”

Edem raised an eyebrow. “Ah, why?”

Sheepishly, Nicky nodded at the phone. “Uhh… the chatting we dey chat… ibi… ibi them tins, so chale…”

He nodded downward, a slightly embarrassed look on his face.

Edem looked confused for a minute, then got the message and laughed out loud. “Ei, bros, sorry ooo. Abeg, I be kiddie. Make I move go another side. You can’t come and spoil me.”

Had Nicky been light-skinned, he definitely would have turned red. He had been getting away with that for the past few days, texting Winnie X-rated stuff while in the office, and the last thing he needed was for anyone to see how excited those chats were making him.

And no doubt, Edem was going to troll him relentlessly from now on.

“Ei, my guy! Then tonight diɛɛ, no go be small gyata-die for the Koomson house. Proper Bayanni vibes. Kwɛɛɛ! ‘If I come back again, ye-ye, if I come back again… you give am like ta, ta, ta, ta…

“Massa, giddout, wai!” Nicky laughed.

FRIDAY

“Honey, have I ever told you you’re my favorite morning view?”

Nicky smirked as he buckled his seat belt, staring at the chocolate beauty sitting across him in the passenger seat. “Well… the fact that you woke up and pounced on me with a deliciously aggressive passion tells me that I am, so… yeah, I guess…”

Winnie giggled, then rubbed his lap seductively. “That was good, though, wasn’t it?”

“So damn good!” he agreed, returning the look and tone of voice. ” It has been so damn sweet devouring that sexy body of yours every day. I just can’t get enough of you.”

“You better not, baby. You know this is all yours, and it always will be,” she purred, gesturing at her body. “Speaking of which, I hope you’re gonna waste me again tonight.”

“Oh, I’m gonna render you useless tonight. Absolutely destroy and pulverize you.”

“Oh yeah, that’s what I like to hear. Throw me up and down the room. Use me like you wanna use me ankasa. Smash my back doors in. Damage my pelvic area, baby.”

Nicky raised an eyebrow in amusement. “Okay, inasmuch as I want to do the first three, I don’t think the last one is advisable. Let’s be guided, please. What will I tell your father when he sees you in a wheelchair?”

Winnie burst out laughing. “Herh, Nicky! Behave yourself, okay?”

Nicky put his hands up in surrender. “Hey, just saying. As for the others, I’m all for it. That one’s a little too much.”

Winnie shook her head. “Such a silly boy. But, you’re my silly boy. And that’s why I love you so much.”

“And I love you too, my queen for life,” Nicky responded. “Now let’s get moving before this convo leads to me giving you some good backshots in the back seat. Not that I’d mind doing that, but… yeah, we can’t be late for work.”

She grinned and rubbed his thigh. “It’s okay. I know you’re letting me have it hot and spicy tonight, so I’m not worried.”

“Oh, most definitely, my love.”

SATURDAY

The doorbell rang.

Nicky and Winnie, who were partially topless and were busily making out in the kitchen, separated from each other upon the sound of that, looking annoyed as they stared at the living room. “Who is that?” Winnie grumbled. “Ah! Don’t they know I’m coming to give my husband his sweet pineapples to play with?”

Nicky shook his head. “Ashock sef. Don’t they know scripture must be fulfilled? Hoh!”

“Say it again! Just as I’m about to satisfy you. Mtchew. You, you quickly go and see who it is, wai. See what they want and let them have it fast fast.”

“Do I have to? I want you now!”

“I know, my love. But whoever it is will ring the bell again, or even worse, knock. Just go and attend to them, then you can come and play with these ta-tas all you want. With no disturbances.”

Nicky had the silliest playful pout on his face. “Okay, okay, I’ll go,” he whined.

“Good boy. Please be fast, wai. I need you all over me,” Winnie grinned slyly as he picked his shirt up from the floor.

“Not as much as I need to be all over your sexy ass, baby,” he quipped back, giving her a light but naughty spank as he stepped out to attend to whoever was at their front door.

Leaning by the sink, Winnie grinned. What a difference one week has made!

Indeed, so much had changed within a week. It was crazy to imagine that not long ago, they couldn’t stay in the same space for two minutes without restraining themselves from attacking each other, and failing most of the time. Now they couldn’t stay in the same space without keeping their hands off each other. Back then, every time she looked into Nicky’s eyes, all she saw was fury and disgust and contempt. Now, it was love and hunger she saw in them.

And it couldn’t have been a better switch of fortunes.

Staring at her T-shirt on the floor, she shook her head. A simple cup-washing exercise after sharing apple juice had turned into another steamy lovefest between them, which would definitely go all the way once he returned.

Yet again.

Man, how useless and dumb those fights now seemed! As he had said during the week, it was much sweeter making her mad with ecstasy than making her mad with anger. And she couldn’t agree any more. Of course, this horny streak wasn’t going to last forever. But boy, were they making the most out of it!

She was so caught up in those thoughts that it was only when Nicky stood before her that she realized he was done.

“So here’s what gonna happen, babe,” he murmured, wrapping his arms around her waist, “I’m gonna put those sweet pineapples in my mouth, then I’m gonna blow your back out on this kitchen floor. Then I’ll lay your sexy lil pummeled ass on the sofa to relax while I get the rest of these dishes done, and when I’m done, I’ll come over and we’ll start watching ‘The Office’. Understood?”

Nodding silently, she whispered, “Yes, Daddy.”

SUNDAY

It was about twelve-thirty when service at the Heart of Joy Anglican Church came to an end. As the congregants streamed out of the building, chatting animatedly and exchanging greetings, among them was the Koomson couple, Nicky and Winnie, both dressed in white, walking hand in hand, their smiles radiant with happiness.

Chatting with a few other congregants, they made their way to the restaurant to get two packs of jollof for the afternoon.

As they got their food and approached the parking lot, they spotted Agyeiwaa, who was standing by her car.

They waved at her. “Agyeiwaa!” they both called out.

She turned to see them, and a smile instantly broke out on her face. She rushed towards them. “Mr. and Mrs. Koomson! So good to see you!”

“It’s great to see you too!” Winnie beamed as they hugged her. “What’s up? How are you doing?”

“Oh, I’m good, I’m good. And it is so good to see you both looking so happy and peaceful together.”

The couple smiled at each other. “Yep,” Nicky confirmed. “We’re doing much better now. Back in love with each other.”

“Just the way it’s supposed to be,” Winnie added, wrapping an arm around her husband’s waist.

Agyeiwaa smiled and nodded. “I’m so relieved to hear that. I’ve been praying for you both, so this is good news.”

Nicky nodded. “By the way, we owe you a huge thank you, Agyeiwaa. I know I was stubborn and prideful at the time, but I’m glad you ignored my order not to tell our parents about our troubles. Now, looking back, I realize that your actions were a blessing in disguise.”

“Yeah, true,” Winnie agreed. “Without your intervention, we’d probably still be holding on to all that unnecessary anger and stuff. So thank you so much, sis.”

Agyeiwaa nodded, her smile filled with understanding. “Sometimes, we all need a little help, even if we don’t realize it at the time. I just wanted what was best for you both, and I’m so glad to see you happy again.”

Nicky reached out and hugged his sister tightly, with Winnie joining in. For a moment, the three of them held each other tightly in that embrace, with the couple more than grateful that she had intervened. Her refusal to obey her brother’s demand had saved them, and they couldn’t be happier.

“Thank you, Agyeiwaa, for being there for us when we needed it the most. We couldn’t have gotten through it without you.”

So now, all the people who knew about their fights know they’ve reconciled. Splendid! Let’s bring this to an end…
